Bird sitting of Las Vegas - About UsI have been working with birds and volunteering for various bird rescues since 2003.  I have had countless birds come through my home in various conditions, fostering them for rescues, administering medications, and nursing them back to health so they could go to forever homes.  I currently am slave to nine birds: a Moluccan Cockatoo named Gabby, an Umbrella Cockatoo named Coconut, a cockatiel named Woobie, and 5 budgies who are Peter, Paul, Mary, Princess, and Precious.

My 9th little one is a sparrow I named Danny. I saw him with his parents in my backyard, then one day they left him alone and all he ever did was hop around.  I went out and caught him easily, then took him to the vet where I was told he had a broken wing that had already healed incorrectly. He would never be able to survive in the wild so my options were to leave him at the vet where he’d be euthanized, or bring him home and take care of him.  The rest is history.

Woobie is a special needs cockatiel who broke her leg when she was young, four homes before mine. Her former owners never took her to the vet, so her leg healed incorrectly. Now she wobbles when she walks and can’t perch like a normal bird, so I have her cage set up with platforms covered in towels, which allow her to move around safely.

The other birds also came from some sort of rescue situation, but none have any lasting physical problems.

I have always boarded my friends’ birds when they went away on vacations and decided to start boarding birds as a business. Everyone is happy with the care and attention that their birds get while they are with me, so I must be doing something right!!

Update (June 2008): Please visit our sister site, Feathered Friends of Las Vegas, to find out about our latest bird rescue efforts.
